Set waves are large waves that come in groups of two or more. They are generally the most highly sought after waves in any swell. This is because they offer more power and longer rides. Speaking like a surfer will involve talking about set waves.

Equipment Needed:

An inflatable life jacket  is a special personal flotation device used for big wave surfing. You can wear it over a regular diving suit, but it can also be worn as an independent vest. It is a key safety device that has already been thoroughly tested during the most difficult wave on Earth.

Important Skill:

- Beginner Surfing Tricks

- Bottom Turn. The bottom turn is the most important maneuver in surfing

- Carve. Carving allows you to change your line and direction in open sections of the waves

- Cutback. The cutback is a key maneuver in surfing

BASIC RULES OF SURFING:

- Right of Way. The surfer closest to the highest point of the wave (the peak) has the right of way on the wave
